Translated, Taekwondo means "art of the hand and foot," and
originally comes from Korea where it is still practiced as a national
sport. Taekwondo's roots are based on techniques tested for
thousands of years. Taekwondo is an exciting and powerful martial art known for its dynamic kicking and hand techniques.
Today there are hundreds of thousands of Americans studying
Taekwondo. The American Taekwondo Association is the heart
of this martial art. The ATA provides instructor training, belt rank
testing and supervision of tournaments.
The Lakeshore Black Belt Academy is proud to be a member
of the ATA family!

We offer adult programs for all levels of skill. We believe in following a high standard of values to bring out the good in our students and increase their quality of life. Regular attendance of our classes will result in stress reduction and improved heath.

Our unique children's programs, Tiny Tigers and Karate for Kids, use interesting and enjoyable methods to keep the student's attention and teach our young students valuable life skills. Students will learn confidence, self discipline and control as they learn how to act and to react to the world around them.
The Tiny Tiger program was developed specifically for preschool age children ages 2 through 6. This program offers children a strong foundation in essential character qualities such as courtesy, respect, and discipline. In addition, the program is designed to improve children's motor skills and enhance their ability to pay attention and follow directions. All classes are taught using the most safe, fun, and exciting instruction methods available for this age group. This program works in conjunction with the Karate for Kids program, thereby emphasizing the same important monthly themes and value system.
There are many reasons for kids to become involved in the martial arts. We have developed a program based on traditional Taekwondo for kids called Karate for Kids. The Karate for Kids system is based on a lifetime learning concept in addition to technical skills.
The building blocks for our system are monthly themes that cover the following lifeskills: Goals, Self-Control, Courtesy, Integrity, Friendship, Confidence, Self Awareness, Self-Esteem, Perseverance, Self-Improvement, Respect, and Dedication.
In addition to monthly themes, our system includes the unique victory patch. Kids are rewarded special "Victory Stars." These different colored stars are rewarded for outstanding performance in taekwondo class, school, home or at a tournament competition. Kids may receive the following stars for the following deeds:
